Court Suspends Nigerian League Over Giwa FC Suspension

A Plateau state high court presided over by Justice I Kunda on Wednesday suspended the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) indefinitely until the defendants, NPFL and the League Management Company (LMC) comply with an earlier ruling of a Jos high court directing that Giwa FC be reinstated back to the league.

Kunda who delivered the fresh ruling in a suit filed by the proprietor of Giwa FC Chris Giwa challenging the suspension of his club by the LMC and NPFL condemned the tactics being employed by the counsel to the LMC, Olumide Olujinmi,to delay proceedings considering that the Nigerian league is time-bound which means that the league might be over before the case is determined.

In order to avoid that, justice Kunda therefore adjourned the case sine die (indefinitely )but also told the defendants to proceed on appeal at the appellate court if they so wished.
