ROTTERDAM OPEN: ANDY MURRAY FIGHTS BACK TO BEAT OPELKA

Andy Murray crawled back from being down three games to none in the third set against Robin Haase to advance in the Rotterdam Open on Monday while it took three tiebreaks for Marton Fucsovics to overcome Reilly Opelka to get out of the first round.

Murray let the first set go 2-6 to fellow wild card Robin Haase of the Netherlands before forcing a tiebreak in the second to go 2-6 7-6(2).

Fucovics got off to a furious start in the deciding set going up 3-0. But it became a battle of the wits from there and Murray roared back to take the next six straight games to win the match after nearly two and a half hours at 2-6 7-6(2) 6-3.

The Brit will either face number four seed Andrey Rublev of Russia or Marcos Giron of the United States in the second round.

Earlier, it took nearly three hours and three tiebreaks for Hungarian qualifier Fucsovics to send Opelka of the United States packing 7-6(2) 6(4)-7 7-6(4).
